Bride Wars (2009)

Where: at home
With: with Arianne
Date of Viewing: February 10, 2012

Genre: comedy, romance, friendship
Personal Blahs:
I’ve actually seen this film before, but decided to watch it again with my sister. We were looking for a funny chic flick with just a light leveled plot and this was just perfect. I too, am fascinated with weddings and I guess I would also like to make a big deal out of it. This was the case for best friends Liv and Emma, who dreamed of having the perfect wedding since they were kids. Competition started when both of them were to be married at the exact same day, and exact same place. Will their friendship be compromised just so they could achieve the wedding they have been looking forward to their whole lives?

Our Family Wedding (2010)

Genre: romance, comedy
Personal Blahs:
Imagine finding the perfect partner and dreaming of the perfect wedding, only to find out that your family is set to ruin it? This is what Marcus and Lucia faced when they informed their family about their plans to settle down. Torn between romance and tradition, they are set to prove that “love conquers all”. Are you strong enough to stand up for this one person that you would want to be with throughout your life? Though the plot is mediocre, I still enjoyed taking part in the couple’s wedding plans and it seemed pretty fun to be planning for my own . I hope I would be as lucky as Lucia to find such a fine young man who would love me for me, and together we would face the future.

Julie & Julia (2009)

Where: at home
With: by myself
Date of Viewing: February 08, 2012

Genre: biography, drama, comedy
Personal Blahs:
This is the biography of two women who found joy over a common hobby – cooking. Julia Child enrolled in a cooking class despite being the only female student. Julie Powell, a huge fan of Julia, challenged herself to do all the recipes within a year – it being an “escape” from all the stress from her job, toxic friends, and the deal about the transferring in a place she doesn’t really like. I tried looking the original blog but I couldn’t find it, and found some other bloggers stating it no longer exists. I really find interest in cooking, but I don’t have the resources to cook. I’m more into baking and I wanted to get my hands on those recipes for desserts that they showed in the movie. This movie probably wants to make the audience realize that nothing is impossible with the help of our loved ones and a bit of inspiration from people we look up to. Of course there will times when we feel inadequate, and our frustration overpowers us. We tend to forget that there are people who love us in spite of all our weaknesses and we must pause to show them we care about them too. Although I’m not into Julie’s character (there were times I feel she was being a narcissistic brat ), I admire her strength for finishing the race. Bon appetite!

Daybreakers (2009)

Where: at home
With: by myself
Date of Viewing: February 07, 2012

Genre: sci-fi, horror, thriller
Personal Blahs:
WARNING: Do not eat while watching this movie. An alternate world where blood drinkers are normal, and humans are hunted – scary isn’t it? Being a vampire defies nature, and when there are no more blood to spill, the population would be wiped out. But not all vampires are to be feared; rarely, one who insists on saving the humans appear, as shown in the movie. The hematologist wanted to find a cure that would be the alternative to drinking human blood, but found out a better discovery. The plot was alright, but excitement is a rare commodity.
