Genre: sci-fi, horror, thriller
Personal Blahs:
WARNING: Do not eat while watching this movie. An alternate world where blood drinkers are normal, and humans are hunted – scary isn’t it? Being a vampire defies nature, and when there are no more blood to spill, the population would be wiped out. But not all vampires are to be feared; rarely, one who insists on saving the humans appear, as shown in the movie. The hematologist wanted to find a cure that would be the alternative to drinking human blood, but found out a better discovery. The plot was alright, but excitement is a rare commodity.

The Lovely Bones (2009)

Genre: fantasy, drama, thriller
Personal Blahs:
The story is about a girl who was raped and murdered, finding herself caught in the “in-between” because she still isn’t ready to move on and accept her fate. I know this movie is based on a book of the same title; however, knowing how movies go, it probably deviated from the written word. Now I want to read the book . I’d say I love the movie from a family person perspective because it focused on how far a father would go for his child, despite the time lapse since the Suzie went missing. Lindsay too, was a brave sister who put herself in danger just to find out the truth. But what can I say about the ending? LAME! Her unfinished business was the boy? Oh c’mon! How about your family who did everything in their power to bring your death to justice? Kids..

Monte Carlo (2011)

Genre: comedy, adventure, romance
Personal Blahs:
Ahhh Paris.. dubbed as the “City of Love” . The movie was supposedly shot at Paris, which Grace was looking forward to all her high school life. The trip was planned to be taken with her best friend Emma, a “dumb” blonde but because their parents’ insisted that the stepsister go along, they obliged. The plot was common and mediocre, with the theme of having an exact look-a-like taking the place of the other. Still, it was fun to see how all of them found love (in different ways) despite the problems they were facing. I wasn’t into the part where no justice was served, even though it was found out that Grace was an impostor. Obviously, the heiress was plain selfish and Grace was viewed to be all goody-goody, but the girls still did a bad thing – pretending to be who they weren’t! There should have been action undertaken for that. In the end, all three girls found the love of their lives – Emma, right where she belonged and realizing she had the best one all along; Meg, someone who helped her unburden all those feelings she kept with the death of her mother; and Grace, who understood that being different is not bad at all.

Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)

Genre: animation, adventure, action
Two Cents:
As expected of this movie, it was super awesome! 🙂 That might be a bit biased since I love pandas, but I being one of the highest grossing movies for 2011, I think a lot would think likewise. Story was amazing, with a balance between the drama and the comedy. It was entertaining, and the action parts were cool. The animation was perfect! It is a must-watch movie for all ages. And the ending! Oh what can I say, it seems to be stating something. *ahem ahem* part 3?? 🙂 I should have watched this on the big screen! 🙂

One of my favorites! I really like the animation, the storyline, the characters! It was funny and romantic at the same time. Brazil looks awesome, and the carnival was so vibrant and full of colors. The background music complements to the movie. Also, this flick is full of lessons : courage, friendship, love, making the right choices. Truly for the family. It brings out the kid in me. 🙂 Highly recommended for young and old alike!

Salt (2010)

Date of Viewing: February 02, 2012

Genre: action, crime, mystery
Two Cents:
As expected of action spy movies, this flick is unrealistic. Being “trained” young, Jolie who is supposedly a CIA turns about to be a Russian spy as well. There were a lot of stunts and action scenes, which I found entertaining, though it obviously would show that Jolie would handle them all. I just had to comment on the disguise she made. C’mon, she’s a trained agent all she did was dyed her hair black? The plot was okay, a bit predictable maybe, but it was enough to keep me going. This is one of ’em, “the-good-guys-turn-out-to-be-the-bad-guys type of movie. I badly want to speak Russian! The language is cool, and so are their names. There were a lot of errors noted, but I must say I enjoyed watching.
